Information about James Koller

Koller is an American poet, novelist, editor and publisher. He moved to San Francisco where he became the editor of Coyote's Journal, and the publisher of Coyote Books. He later moved with the magazine to New Mexico, and then to Maine. Koller has authored twenty-seven collections of poetry and four novels, and was a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship recipient in both 1968 and 1973.

James Kollers neues Buch, Like it was (Blackberry Books, Brunswick Maine) ist eine Sammlung seiner Texte – Gedichte, Erzählungen und Erinnerungen – aus und über die späten 60er, als er in Nordkalifornien lebte und in seinen Coyote Books & Coyote Journal Autoren wie Gary Snyder, Philip Wahlen, Lew Welch, Allen Ginsberg, Robert Creely, Charles Olson, Ed Dorn, Joanne Kyger & Richard Brautigan z. T. erstmals überhaupt veröffentlichte. Während dieser Zeit arbeitete Koller auch mit den in San Francisco ansässigen Diggers im alternativ-politischen Bereich zusammen, die damals Veränderungen postulierten, deren volle Auswirkungen in der Frauen- und Umschweltschutzbewegung der 70er und 80er Jahre zum Tragen kamen.
